So I’m sitting here sipping my coffee in my favorite café, in the spot where the sun is shining in from the window, between a Nepali couple with their newborn baby and an Aamaala saying mantras on her mala beads, across from a monk on his iphone, and I’m watching the Tibetan guys sing and joke behind the counter while they make samosas, beneath the picture of the Dalai Lama that’s hanging on the wall… and I’m having one of those “humanity is beautiful” kind of moments. The mix of tradition and modernity, of West and East, old and new, is kind of nice. It’s warming to know that Hindus, Buddhists, and a white girl who just thinks everyone could be One can all sit in a room together and exchange smiles and, well, be One. I’ll be sad to leave this place…
